An excellent coffee table book tracing the history of its predessors, the Bengal and North Western Railway[BNWR], the Oudh & Tirhut Railway[OTR], the Rohilkhand and Kumaon Railway[RKR], the Assam Bengal Railway[ABR], the Assam Railway[AR] with its subsidiary company railways and later on the parts of the Bombay Baroda & Central India Railway[BB&CIR].

The above railway system, had developed into one of tthe longest metre gauge networks of India in the 19th and 20th centuries with some narrow gauge branches.  Later on, it was converted into broad gauge.  North Eastern Railway fords many mighty rivers of north India, such as the Ganges, Saryu, Rapti, Gandak, Ghagra, and many more. The book talks about the classic bridges on them as well as the famous stations and cities the railway connects.
