As the name of the book suggests, it is a historical treatise on India's oldest and one of the most celebrated railway workshops.  Built by the East Indian Railway (EIR) in the year 1862, the workshop, which began by manufacturing and overhauling locomotives, has, over a century and a half diversified its product mix to a plethora of rolling sock and equipment including accident relief cranes for Indian Railways and other organisations in India and abroad. A vision of the rich tradition of the Workshop and the lives of the railway community through intersting narratives and rare photographs makes the book immensely interesting.
