Kangra Valley Railway is one of India's lesser known Hill Railways. Although the gradients are less steep as compared with other hill railways, the line is longer and has spectacular views of the mountains. It was built to facilitate the construction of a unique hydroelectric project in pre-partition Punjab. It describes construction of the line and its unique features such as the then only steel arch bridge in the country. The book also covers the realignment of the line on account of the construction of the Pong dam.
